by Alex Lloyd Gross
Rite Aid is in bankruptcy and a lot of their stores are closing. That does not mean merchandise is free. Richard Sturts, 54, of Levittown found that out the hard way when he was arrested by Warrington Police and charged with shoplifting.
On January 19, 2024 he was inside the store on Easton Road when he started to fill up a trash bag with merchandise. The value of the merchandise was $636.00 ,police said. As Sturts tried to leave the store with his trash bag filled with stuff, he was told he could not leave the store with unpaid merchandise. He responded that “It does not matter , the store is closing anyway”.
Police were called and were able to identify Sturts using facial recognition technology.. He was sent to Bucks County Prison by District Justice Stacy Wertman under $150,000 bail/10 percent. He is charged with Retail Theft and Receiving Stolen Property.
