Philly Police Release Info On Two Recent Shootings

Philadelphia Police have released information on two different shootings that happened last week. They are unrelated to each other.

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 8:54 p.m., Police responded to the 5800 block of Rising Sun Avenue for a person with a gun on the highway.   

A 20-year-old black male was located with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 9:12 p.m.  He was identified as Kristopher Dowling from the 4800 block of North 15th Street.  The scene was held, no weapon was recovered, and no arrest was made. The investigation is active and ongoing with the Homicide Detectives. Motive:  Unknown.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 3:48 p.m., Police responded to the 36XX block of North 17th Street for a person with a gun. 

Police located two unresponsive victims inside a Kia Sportage with gunshot wounds.  PFD-Medic Unit pronounced both victims dead on the scene at 3:50 p.m.   

Victim #1:  A 53-year-old black male suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso.  He was identified as Lamont Wright from Los Angeles, California.

Victim #2: A 32-year-old black female suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso.  She was identified as Denver Newton from the 5400 block of Beaumont Street. 

The scene was held, no weapon was recovered, and no arrest was made. The investigation is active and ongoing with the Homicide Detectives Division.Motive:  Unknown
