High Bail Set For Bensalem Theft Suspect

It was back on April 29,2024 when Bensalem police got a call about a theft from a car at the Conoco filling station on Knights Road at Dunksferry Road. They found a 2017 Tesla with the rear window broken out. Inside that vehicle was a box of cash. $190,000 to be precise.

This was legitimate money, it was owned by a man that services skill games. He was at the gas station on a call when the theft happened. Using security camera footage and license plate readers, detectives found the owner of the vehicle . It was also found that a male by the name of Christopher Plytas, 43, was associated with the owners’ address and was involved in a traffic accident in October 2023 in Bristol Township in the same white Kia Optima.  Bensalem Police obtained photographs of Christopher Plytas and identified him as the person who stole the $190,000 cash from the victim’s vehicle

Police set up surveillance on the car which was at Glen Hollow Apartments in the Croydon section, Bristol Township. After four hours, Plytas showed up and was arrested without incident, police said.

Christopher Plytas was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking, Theft from a Motor Vehicle, and related charges.  He was arraigned by District Justice Kevin Wagner and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of 2,000,000 bail.

Police are looking to determine if anyone else was involved in this theft. When Plytas’ apartment and vehicle were searched, $40,000 was found, along with narcotics, paraphernalia, clothing,. His charges include Theft by Unlawful Taking, Theft from a Motor Vehicle.

He will be cooling his heels in the Bucks County Prison under $2,000,000 bail. Police are still determining if the victim was targeted and also trying to locate any more of the missing cash.
