by Alex Lloyd Gross
When a victim innocently mailed a check payment for some bills in a mailbox in Perkasie, someone took the checks and changed the payee, date and amount. Police allege that that person was Chynna McMillan of Brooklyn New York.
Police said that they got a hold of the altered checks and found them to be presented at a post office in New York. McMillan’s name and information was on the reverse of the check, as it was put there by a postal employee.
She was using this to buy stamps with, police said. McMillan told police that she told them she got the checks from someone else who told her they were legitimate business checks. McMillan turned herself in to police and was released on a promise to appear, without bail. He charges include theft and access device fraud, police said.
