The ruling, which came down during the morning hours of July 1, 2024 will throw a monkey wrench in his trial for January 6th and election interference trials. They have been referred back to the lower court for a ruling. The timetable for this means it is doubtful that his trials would start before the November election.
Trump has always insisted that the charges brought against him are a political witch hunt.
Current POTUS, Joe Biden issued a statement that read in part ” This is a terrible disservice to the people of this nation.”
“This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America. Each, each of us is equal before the law. No one, no one is above the law, not even the president of the United States. [With] today’s Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity, that fundamentally changed for all practical purposes,” Biden said.
The supreme court ruling was along 6-3 lines.
Donald Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records. He is not asking for that verdict to be set aside . His sentencing on that will take place July 11, 2024.
