Dave McCormick Stumps In Bensalem With Sarah Huckabee Sanders
by Alex Lloyd Gross
On a rainy Wednesday afternoon, just before 3:00PM the Dave McCormick Campaign Bus rolled into the parking lot of the Bensalem Farmers Market on Hulmeville Road. The candidate for the United States Senate was going to hold a quick press conference and talk about what he called the “Failed policy of Senator Bob Casey”.
McCormick wants jobs and he wants high paying jobs in the state. During his remarks, he talked about better education which could lead to engineering jobs. “Those jobs pay $50,00 $100.00 per hour”, he said. He wanted to talk about energy and creating jobs in the energy sector. “We need to triple, quadruple those jobs, we want what they are doing in Texas and Oklahoma, but we’re not,” he lamented.
Not everyone wants to be an engineer or can go to college. Especially Pennsylvanians in the inner city. Many people have what is called an “essential job” Without people to stock shelves, or cashiers, the country would grind to a halt. It almost did in 2020. Those workers are not making $50.00/hr. When pressed, McCormick said “I wouldn’t say what the minimum wage should be (it’s currently $7.25/hr). He misspoke when he said because Pennsylvania is surrounded by states with a higher minimum wage, it’s not that relevant”. He is under the impression all employers are paying higher wages. They are not. That is why State Rep KC Tomlinson broke with her party to raise the wage in PA. That bill died in the senate. Tomlinson was one of many local republicans who showed up to hear what McCormick had to say..

He spoke out about inflation and runaway spending. He is outraged that the price of food has risen as much as 72 percent for some items. It is very difficult for people to make ends meet and he brought up some business owners to talk about that.
McCormick knows that there is an illegal alien epidemic that is bleeding this country dry. The borders are not secure and McCormick would like to he more funding go towards that. McCormick needs to tred lightly on the MAGA stance on some issues. Not all Pennsylvanians are staunch Trump supporters. Many are moderates. “I think my policies are on- they strike a balance”, he said
This event was open to the public, many of who came in and carried signs supporting McCormick. Those in attendance call incumbent Senator Bob Casey way to extreme and say his policies are dangerous. “This is the most important election of your lifetime and Pennsylvania cannot afford to have a senator that votes with Joe Biden 99 percent of the time,” McCormick said.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders , Governor of Arkansas spoke for a few minutes before she took selfies with some of those that showed up. She said that if Bob Casey and Kamala Harris get in, “This country will be much worse than it is right now.” Both McCormick and Sanders said that there could be price controls on items under Casey and Harris should they win. McCormick said that many democrats disagree with Casey’s policies and they even caused even caused inflation. He pointed to the Inflation reduction act and the American Rescue Plan just to name two.
The event lasted about 30 minutes and McCormick and Sanders spent another 20 minutes meeting people and taking photos with them. The election is on November 5, 2024.
