Close Enemies- New Supergroup Plays Intimate Philly Show

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Musicians that have been in established bands , then get together for a new project get to be called a “Supergroup”. When a guitarist for Sheyl Crow , the drummer for the Baby’s and bass player for Aerosmith team up, that is one definition of a supergroup. They played an intimate show last night at the City Winery in Philadelphia.

The show was tight. It’s like these guys have been playing for years. However, they just formed last year and last night was the first night of their first tour. Suffice it to say people liked what they heard. For about 90 minutes this band played most of their still unreleased album. Songs like “Sound Of A Train”, the band;s first single were played.

The only disappointment of the evening was the fact that the new record is not out yet. Fans were hoping to pick up a copy of the new CD at the merch booth. Speaking of the merch booth, after the show, all of the members of Close Enemies went out to the merch booth and met their fans. Most brought Aerosmith records to get singed, which Hamilton signed two records for each fan.

The band hope that their new record will be released in October and then they get to come around again to play Philly later in the year or during the early part of next year.

This was not playing the greatest hits of Sheryl Crow, or Aerosmith . These were original songs done by a new band, with only a few Aerosmith songs, like “Sweet Emotion” put into the set. The band closed with “Head First”,

Fans had no idea of what the songs were called and they should be announced, especially when a band is so new and the crowd is reacting positively.

The band is Tom Hamilton, Bass
Tony Brock, Drums
Peter Stroud, Guitar
Trace Foster, Guitar
