by Alex Lloyd Gross

A fast moving fire destroyed the end unit of a strip of townhouses on Winfield Court. Companies were initially dispatched to Sawyer Court in Bensalem Twp. According to Director Of Public Safety Bill McVey, “One unit is destroyed, we had heavy fire when fire trucks arrived “, he said. The fire happened about 1:00 PM.

The residents were not at home, according to neighbors, the adjacent houses (called exposures) sustained serious smoke and possible water damage. A woman who was holding several dogs at the scene said she resided in an adjacent house and everyone got out safe.

At press time, there were no reported injuries. McVey said he had no idea of what the cause was. McVey was not sure how many of the houses near the fire sustained damage, when he was interviewed, the fire had just been placed under control and firefighters were still doing assessments.
