Area Resident Charged With Kidnapping and Killing Businessman

Tyheem Tyler, 34, was indicted and charged by federal authorities with kidnapping and murder stemming from a robbery gone wrong in 2023. According to court records, Tyler is alleged to have gone to a business operated by Wey Um and robbed that business at gunpoint on March 6 2023.
On March 31, 2023 Tyler and his co conspirators also, allegedly drove a Ford Explorer SUV to Wey Um’s Philadelphia home, kidnapped Wey Um from outside of his residence, and at approximately 2:12 a.m., drove Wey Um in the Ford Explorer to a location near the Delaware River in Philadelphia.
Um died as a result of this . Authorities said that Tyler could face life in federal prison or the death penalty if he is convicted.
