Massive Annual Car Show Held In Northeast Philly

If you like cars or if you have no interest in cars, the American Federal Heritage Credit Union Campus on Red Lion Road was the place to be this Saturday. There was something for everyone. The best part is , it was free. A great place to take kids or go on an afternoon date.

At 9:00 AM there were scattered pockets of light rain. By 9:45 AM all the rain had cleared and it made for a perfect day to see cars of all types. Antiques, rebuilds, classic and even current , newer vehicles from 2015 and newer were on display, with their respective owners hoping for a trophy.

The judges who had the task of looking for the knockout vehicles in each class had their work cut out for them. “There are not a enough trophies for all the cars”, one judge said. When people get a show car, they think it’s the best. When you have over 300 or 500 vehicles, it’s difficult to pick one.

A 2013 Chevy might be clean and well maintained. It may be the owners pride and joy, but that does not guarantee a placement for an award. For most people that entered, they do not let that bother them, they are there for the camaraderie and for people watching.

At this show, there was a small craft fair and concessions were reasonable. If fact, down right affordable. Hamburgers were $3.00 each and that was the top price for any food there. So if you wanted a burger, fries and a soda and only had a $10.00 bill, you would get change.

Parking is a bit tricky, with most people trying to use the BJ’s lot. You can get in easy, getting out will take about 15 minutes. Once inside, it’s a great way to spend a few hours looking around. Children will have a blast at the kid zone, getting on rides and it only cost $5.00.
