
Police Announce Murder Charge For Mayfair Male In 7-Eleven Shooting

Police arrested Joseph McGinnes of the 7000 block of Tulip Street in connection with the shooting death of 55 year old Tyrone Brown of Edmund Street. The incident unfolded yesterday morning about 7:00 AM. inside the 7-Eleven on the 6900 block of Torresdale Ave. The two males were customers inside the store when an argument started between them. That argument turned from verbal to physical, according to police. It was at that time , McGinnis pulled out a pistol and fired one shot hitting Brown in the head.

This shooting and the events that lead up to it were all captured on video. Including a portable video platform in the front parking lot. McGinnis then went to his home on Tulip Street. Police arived shortly after him. McGinnis did not walk to the door, instead he kept police at bay.

A barricade situation was declared. That ended with the arrest of McGinnis. He was taken to the Homicide Division, where he was charged with murder and weapons offenses.. Police secured a warrant and searched his residence on Tulip Street for most of the afternoon.
