Stacy Garrity Kicks Off Campaign For Governor
by Alex Lloyd Gross
State Treasurer Stacy Garrity has ambitions on the states highest office. She wants to be be Governor Of Pennsylvania. While the election is over a year away for that race, serious contenders start now. They have to raise money and build name recognition. Garrity kicked off a campaign trip across the commonwealth this week. Locally, she payed a visit to Newtown.

The event , which was open to the public was held at the Newtown Athletic Club, owned by Jim Worthington, a staunch republican supporter. This was the same venue that twice hosted Senator JD Vance before he was elected into the officer of Vice President.
Garrity showed up and spoke for about 20 minutes. She knows that she has to unseat Josh Shapiro, who is very popular. Shapiro likes to say he “Gets stuff done, well I get stuff done too. As your Treasurer, I returned millions of unclaimed money to Pennsylvanians quickly”, Garrity said.
She is a veteran who served over 30 years in the Army Reserve . She was deployed overseas. She is a very eloquent speaker. She blasted Shapiro for eyeing the White House as his next stop. Shapiro is not shy about saying he wants the presidency. Garrity said he is taking too much time from his job as governor to raise funds for that race.

Josh Shapiro was a contender for Vice President had Kamala Harris picked him a a running mate. He was on the short list but ultimately, the gig went to Tim Walz, who did not deliver much to the campaign. Garrity said that as governor, she will be fiscally responsible for the citizens of Pennsylvania.
When asked about workers on the lowest rung of the employment ladder in the state, Shapiro wants to get the minimum wage raised, Garrity said he wants to let businesses dictate what they pay workers. Some workers in this state still get paid $7.25/hr.

Garrity is not the only candidate that will run for governor. Last election, Senator Doug Mastriano ran a dumpster fire of a campaign that saw him exclude all but a select few media outlets, except for the last two weeks of his campaign. He has toyed with the idea of another run. Garrity must distinguish herself from the pack.

Before Garrity took the stage, people heard from other republicans running for various offices, Pam VanBlunk, Fred Harran and District Atttorney Jen Shorn, for example.
