Multi Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Woodhaven Road

A three vehicle accident involving a commercial tire van resulted in the closure of Woodhaven Road in the area of Thornton Road, heading east. This crash happened just before 9:00 AM, when a van plowed into the rear of a vehicle that was slowing in traffic.
That vehicle slammed into another car, pushing it against the left guide rail, causing disabling damage. At least three people sustained injuries that were classified as serious but not life threatening, police said. All of the vehicle were disabled in different lane, which resulted in the necessity of closing down the entire east bound lanes for about 45 minutes.
No one was issued any citations at the scene for the crash. Because traffic was at a standstill, medic units were forced to come the wrong way on the expressway to get to the scene.
