Male Killed In Tragic Wood Chipper Accident

Last night, about 4:41PM a man in his 60’s was helping a neighbor clear tree branches by using a wood chipper on the unit block of Valley View Road in Lower Southampton. For whatever reason, the man got too close to the machine and he fell head first into the chipper.
The man was killed almost instantly, authorities said. The unit block of Valley View Drive was closed while the scene was investigated. No other injuries were reported. It is unknown if the chipper became stuck and the man was trying to clear a jam when the accident happened. It is also unknown if that model has and emergency stop switch.
