Prison Guard Killed In Cottman Ave Motorcycle Crash

A prison guard on his way to work this morning was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on the 4300 block of Cottman Avenue. Devon Williams was traveling east on Cottman Ave about 6:45 AM going towards State Road.
For an unknown reason, Williams lost control of the motorcycle, laying it down. The bike skidded on the road, coming to rest in the westbound lanes. He was not struck by another vehicle. Medics rushed Williams to the hospital where he was pronounced dead around 7:30 AM.
Cottman Avenue was closed for the investigation for several hours, until the bike could be towed from the scene. Other corrections officers saw the accident and rushed to help Williams, police said.
