Illegal ATV Rider Killed In North Philadelphia Crash Over The Weekend

All Terrain Vehicles are legal to own but not legal to be driven on public streets. This past weekend, one male, 22 years old was killed when the ATV he was driving collided with a ride share vehicle at 15th and Thompson Streets . Police said the crash happened May 9 2026 about 9:24PM.
According to police, the ride share car was traveling eastbound on Thompson Street, making a right turn to continue southbound on 15th Street when ATV operator disregarded the steady red traffic signal at 15th Street and made contact with the Toyota on the driver side door.
The car was occupied by four juvenile passengers that sustained injuries and were taken to Children’s Hospital. The identity of the ATV rider was not released pending notification of next of kin. He was pronounced dead at 9:53 PM police said.
