Two Males Arrested For Northeast Carjacking, One Juvenile Charged As An Adult

Philadelphia Police have formally charged 18-year-old Richard West and 16-year-old Jayden West, of Tioga Street with robbery, theft assault and related offenses, after a late night carjack and pursuit that originated on the 2100 block of Longshore Street.
Investigators determined that two masked suspects approached a 32-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman, brandishing a handgun and a knife. The offenders threatened the victims with the weapons before seizing their keys and fleeing the scene in the victims’ 2012 Jeep Cherokee.
The stolen vehicle was spotted by patrol officers shortly after the initial report, sparking a brief pursuit. The suspects’ flight ended when they crashed the Jeep into a pickup truck at the intersection of Torresdale and Adams Avenue. Following the collision, both suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot but were quickly apprehended by pursuing officers. A handgun was recovered from the scene.
