Police Look For Witness To Hit and Run Crash

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Philadelphia Police have released a photo of a pick up truck that was driven by someone that might have witnessed a serious hit and run accident on May 23, 2026 . It was about 11:30 PM along the 4000 block of Whitaker Avenue. During the incident, a silver SUV was traveling northbound on Whitaker Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck a 22-year-old male who was attempting to cross the street from west to east mid-block.

Police are attempting to locate the pictured vehicle and identify its operator, who was in the immediate area at the time of the collision. Police emphasize that this vehicle was not involved in the crash itself and is not considered a suspect vehicle. Investigators believe the driver may have witnessed the incident and could provide critical information to help identify the striking vehicle, which fled the scene.

The striking vehicle is described as a newer model white pickup truck, possibly a GMC Sierra. The truck was last seen traveling northbound on Whitaker Avenue, moving away from the intersection at Luzerne Street.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver or the whereabouts of the white pickup truck is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3181 or call the PPD tipline at 215-686-(TIPS). Tipsters can remain anonymous.

  1. Yet another CONFUSING article on this website…..
FIRST, it’s written that the pictured white pickup truck was NOT involved in the accident….which was a SILVER SUV.

Then, the “Striking Vehicle” was described as a WHITE pickup truck?

Is the writer of these articles loaded with mistakes purposely being annoying?
Or maybe drunk or on drugs?
Or maybe it’s that stupid “A.I.” crap

I’m starting to believe that this news website needs serious work.
Thankfully, these articles are accurately found on other news sets like 6ABC, etc.

    1. Actually, all information is verbatim from PPD. The pictured vehicle just happens to be similar to the striking vehicle. Nothing inaccurate at all. Thanks for reading.
