Two Males Turn Simple Retail Theft In Warrington Into Felony Robbery
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Two Philadelphia Residents are under arrest and charged with robbery after a retail theft at the Warrington Wal-Mart. Police said that Mark Alexander and Joel Long, went into the WaL–Mart yesterday and asked to see a Nintendo Switch that was locked behind a case. As the clerk got the item, police said that Long allegedly concealed the toy as Alexander distracted the clerk.
The pair were stopped outside by store security. While speaking, Long pulled a knife and held it while speaking, which is a threat. This action turned the theft into armed robbery.
Officers later located Alexander near a bus stop, where he provided a false name before being placed under arrest. Long returned to the same area a short time later and was also taken into custody. Police recovered the stolen Nintendo Switch, and clothing Long had allegedly discarded nearby. Both men were processed and arraigned, with bail set at $1 million (10% cash) for Long and $250,000 (10% cash) for Alexander.
Both had warrants out of Philadelphia.
