Bristol Boro Post Office Gets Historic Proclamation

Postmaster Ayofemi Grandy is in charge of the Bristol Borough Post Office on Beaver Street. The historic building has been in operation since 1914. Today, to help celebrate the 250 Birthday of America, a proclamation was read celebrating the historic building and it’s contribution to history.

The Bristol Post Office originally was on Mill Street. It has changed locations three times since the 1700’s and where it is now is where it will stay. This is a historic building. From the US Military sending information, to news reports, the Bristol Borough station was crucial as it was reasonably close to Philadelphia and New York.

Bristol Borough Mayor Peranteau presented a formal proclamation honoring the Post Office’s enduring role in serving the Bristol community and helping connect Americans for nearly 250 years. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R Bucks) also presented Grandy with a citation and a flag that was flown over the United States Capitol.

Both documents are expected to be hung in the lobby, that showcases the history of the postal service. From uniforms to cancellation tools.

After the remarks were given outside, guests moved indoors and got a tour of the post office.
