Off Duty Philadelphia Police Officer Charged With Murder

Kenroy Cummings was a Philadelphia Police Officer, assigned to patrol in Kensington. This past Friday, July 24,2026, while he was off duty, he was in Allen Township, which is in Northampton County It was there, Pennsylvania State Police said that he allegedly shot and killed a family member.
The shooting was a result of a domestic argument, at a home on the 1200 block of Old Gate Rd, in Allen Township. After the shooting, Cummings fled but was found in Havover Township. When officers went to stop his vehicle, he fled from them and drove back to the scene on Old Gate Road,where he was taken into custody, police said.
Unconfirmed sources said that a disturbance was taking place in the house and Cummings was called to help mediate the argument. Cummings will be charged with homicide. It is unknown if Cummings used his service weapon to shoot the family member, who was reported to be an uncle. The uncle was apparently arguing with Cumming’s children, It is unknown what the argument was about. The identity of the male shot will be officially released tomorrow, officials said.
