Newtown Twp. Police Investigate Alleged Abuse At Child Care Center

Police in Newtown are investigating a claim of abuse at a childcare center earlier in July. The complain, received through Child Line involved allegations that a former employee at a Blacksmith Road Pre School caused injuries to a child.
According to information provided to this news agency, the alleged assault happened on July 24, 2026. Parents were notified July 29, 2026. Five days after the alleged assault happened. In the statement, sent to parents, the school wrote :”An incident occurred in your child’s classroom on Friday, which did not align with the high standards of care and professionalism we expect within our school community”.
The school stated the staff member is no longer employed at the facility. The statement further advised that the family of the child has been contacted and the preschool was working with “the appropriate “individuals and agencies” to ensure the matter was addressed appropriately.
The notice also said that other staff members would be supporting the classroom for the remainder of the year. Newtown Police confirmed they are investigating a Child Line complaint.
No criminal charges have been announced and investigators have not released additional details regarding the nature of the complaint or the extent of the injuries to the child.
It is important to note that a Child Line investigation does not, by itself, establish that criminal conduct occurred. Such investigations may involve child welfare agencies, law enforcement or both, depending on the circumstances. The Preschool has not publicly released any additional information, beyond the letter sent to families. It is unknown if any other regulatory agencies .
