It’s every parents worst nightmare. You enter your child’s bedroom and they are gone. They are not with friends or out at a store. They are gone. That is what happened to an eleven year old Philadelphia girl, when she started to converse 27 year old Bobbyjean Orak over the internet.
The conversation turned sexual and soon, the girl was sending naked photos and videos of herself to Orak. At first Orak disguised his age and gender when he was talking with her. Eventually, in July 2024, he convinced the girl to run away with him and she left her home in the middle of the night. He took her to New Jersey . They moved between motels to stay one step ahead of the law, authorities said.
While he was with her, he had sex with her and kept the girl away from her friends and family. Living on the run is expensive . To fund this lifestyle, federal authorities said that Orak robbed gas stations across Burlington County NJ.
Following a month-long search effort, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) located Orak and Victim-1 at a hotel in Galloway, New Jersey. FBI agents and local law enforcement officers arrested Orak and safely reunited Victim-1 with her family that same evening. After Victim-1 was found, investigators examined Orak’s cellphone and online accounts and discovered over 1,000 images and videos of CSAM depicting Victim-1 and other minor victims.
When caught, he pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Karen M. Williams in Camden federal court to a five-count Indictment, charging him with transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, interstate travel with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor, enticement of a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity, and the production and possession of child pornography.
