Police Officer Involved In Crash In Lower Southampton

Police fire and EMS responded earlier today to the area of Bustleton Pike near 5th Street for a crash involving a police officer. According to Chief Ted Krimmel, no injuries were reported but both vehicle sustained damage.

The officer was responding to an emergency call and heading North on Bustleton Pike, when a car exiting a shopping center crossed paths with the patrol vehicle. The vehicle, an SUV was about 95 percent cleared from the intersection, when contact was made by the front of the patrol vehicle. The civilian vehicle rotated away from the initial point of impact, police said.

Chief Krimmel said that the officer sustained minor abrasions from the airbag and the driver of the other vehicle was driven away from the scene by her husband. No one went to the hospital. A portion of Bustleton Pike was closed for the investigation for about 40 minutes. Chief Krimmel said that this is the third crash that particular police vehicle was in.
