House Fire On Academy Road Causes Problems

A house fire on the 3700 block of Academy Road severely damaged a two story twin house around noon today. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find smoke showing from the rear window, kitchen. They put fire hoses in service but motorists kept driving over them, in spite of the fact that they were fully charged.
This can endanger firefighters who are in the interior of the building, or damage the hose and or a vehicle. The fire was declared under control in about 20 minutes.That does not mean that the hoses were picked up then, that took about 30 minutes more.
The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries reported. It is unknown if the occupants were home at the time of the fire.Firefighters from throughout the northeast were dispatched to the scene and went in service. The house next door sustained smoke damage, officials said.
