Philly Resident Convicted Of Sex Assault Attempt In Bensalem

Louis Sophie, 46, of Southampton Road was convicted yesterday of two counts of first-degree felony burglary and third-degree felony criminal trespassing, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, attempted indecent assault-without consent, and attempted indecent assault-forcible compulsion.
This after a horrifying incident in October of 2025. Sophie broke into an apartment at the Lafayette Gardens Complex on Bristol Pike, near the border with Philadelphia. The victim fought back as Sophie, a registered sex offender tried to remove her clothes and make sexual remarks to her.
Because she fought back, Sophie ran away and police found in nearby, in Philadelphia, at the Sunoco gas station, just inside the city,
At the trial, among those testifying were the victim, who bravely recounted the traumatic attack and her struggle against her assailant, as well as several Bensalem Township police officers who detailed the swift response, the physical evidence collected at the scene, and the coordinated search that led to Sophie’s apprehension shortly after he fled.
Judge Wallace Bateman deferred sentencing for Sophie until after he completes a sex offender assessment. He remains in custody until then.
