A car stolen out of Philadelphia was found with five occupants in Bensalem Twp, just before 4:00 PM. According to Director Of Public Safety Bill McVey, a license plate reader retuned a hit on the car and police went to work trying to find it. The car was last seen near Street and Brookwood.
As Police found it, the driver sped away and rammed police cars and a civilian vehicle near Brookwood Drive. According to McVey, “The car went straight across Street Road and plowed right into the 7-Eleven located at Sreet Road and Brookwood Drive. Luckily, there were no customers inside or it would have been much worse.
Some of the people in the car got out and ran, before the car crashed into the store. Police chased them down and arrested them. When asked if the suspects were adults, McVey said he was not certain, as they were not processed yet.
The force of the impact, moved concrete curbing outside the store. Several displays were strewn around the store and a lot of the merchandise will have to be destroyed. PECO crews were on scene dealing with securing the power to the store.
McVey said the five arrested were all males and all of them will face very serious charges. One officer did sustain a minor injury during the arrest of one of the suspects. There were no injuries reported when the stolen car crashed into the civilian vehicle in an attempt to get away.
