Lots of people put up Halloween decorations. Some even set up a garage or carport to be spooky. Coleen Prendergast took that farther than most. She turned her house on Girard Avenue, in Croydon, Bucks County into a haunted attraction. It’s free and it is the last year it will be at her house.

This year the theme is unsolved mysteries and crimes, Different areas of her yard are sectioned off with bed sheets. Walk through and you can meet Lizzy Borden and her axe. Jack the Ripper is there too. Did you know there was a diner owner in America that would kill customers that argued with him? He would chop up the bodies and feed them to unsuspecting future customers. You can also get a glimpse of aliens at Area 51.

The project is called Croydon Haunted Hollows. It’s also a 501 3C, which means it’s a non profit. The people that volunteer , some of them are special needs. Because of it’s registration, they are able to get donations from companies and those companies can write off that donation.

So how scary is this? It’s scary enough for a mother to run out and abandon her kids a few years back. “I had to run down the block with her kids to return them, she would not come closer to the house:, Prendergast said.

Both the township and Prendergast have gotten over 100 complaints. Some claim she is a Satanist and others complain about the crowds and parking. The Satan claims are unfounded, One can buy the Satanic Bible at a bookstore. Does that mean the store owners worship the devil? The parking complaints are valid but can be mitigated by neighbors working together.

The haunted house will be back in 2027 but with another location. Where? Well that is a question that will be figured out by next year. The Croydon Haunted Hollows has two different shows. The first, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM is for children that scare easily or that don’t quite grasp the concept of Halloween. It’s not scary, it’s just a walk through. Children with Autism might find this better. From 7:00PM until about 9:00PM the monsters and miscreants take over. A lot of visitors come through in costume.
