Suspect In Custody In Murder Of Child In Lawncrest Area

Police were looking for Khaleek Cooper-Baldwin in relation to a homicide of a child March 26, 2021. He is now in custody and will face charges of murder and weapons offenses. He is 19 years old. Police responded to the scene of a person with a gun on the 1500 block of Mckinley Street. When they arrived, they found an 11 year old who had been shot one time in the neck.
He was rushed to St. Christopher’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Harley Belance. No motive was given for why someone aimed a gun at a child and shot him. Baldwin was the subject of a manhunt and was taken into custody earlier today, March 31, 2021. He will be held without bail.
