Woman killed in wreck with PECO truck
By Alex Lloyd Gross
One woman was killed and several passengers in her car sustained minor injuries following a grinding accident with a PECO truck, yesterday, June 16, 2016. The crash happened about 11:00 AM at the intersection of Knights and Woodhaven Roads. The driver of the utility truck was walking around and did complain of some minor pain. He was advised to seek treatment by bystanders.
As rescue companies first arrived, they had to quickly cut the roof off of the car the woman was in to extricate her and her passengers. Traffic in the area was a mess as cars coming from the Franklin Mills Mall had no where to go when they exited towards Knights Road. Soon, after the investigation started that portion of Knights road was closed to traffic.
The cause of the crash is determined at this time to be the fault of the driver of the car Gloria Szarek. The truck was heading south on Knights Road and the car was west on Woodhaven. The car turned in front of the truck. The intersection is controlled by a traffic light. This intersection has a traffic light camera. Traffic light cameras are private property and cannot be subpoenaed. This has been attempted by lawyers in the past and they fail every time.
