Rik Emmett to play area shows this weekend

Rik Emmett. formerly known as the backbone to the band Triumph, and now an accomplished solo artist will pay two concerts this weekend. As a treat, they are small shows played with Dave Dunlop, his musical partner . There will be no blinding light show. “This is just me and Dave playing acoustic, electric guitars. The audience will get to hear classics like “Fight the Good Fight”, and “Magic Power”, but done acoustically. Then they will hear instrumentals, and they might hear a song off our new album called “Human Race, which we often throw in the set”, Emmett said during a phone interview.
The new record is available on Amazon.com. “Where ever you can buy music online, you can get the record, all formats, ( except 8 track and cassette) “It’s available on 180 gram vinyl , digital download and CD”, Emmett said. His solo band is called RESsolution9. ” It’;s very much a band project, he said, RE are my initials, and we looked at all the RE words in the dictionary and we settled on the word “RESolution” and the number 9 at the end, because it is is a very cool and mystical number”.
Rik’s shows this weekend are Friday, December 2 at Havana which is in New Hope Pa. and the very next night he is at the Tin Angel, in Philadelphia. The shows should last a long time . It’s surprising but Rik has more solo material than he has Triumph material. I’ve gotten more out of life by being more eclectic, in my musical tastes. Rik teaches college classes at Humber College in Toronto. Sorry, it’s not a class you can take online. “I used to teach a music business class but now i just do a songwriting workshop . You have to take two years of college before you get to me. It’s part of a Bachelors of Music Degree”, Emmett said. “I think I have things of value that I can share with music students”.
Rik Emmett’s said “My fans that have followed me from the old days are very open minded but are very happy I’ve done a rock record again”, Right now, he is playing with Dave Dunlop and the two shows this weekend are perfect for music lovers in the region.
