On Friday afternoon, April  27, 2018 Middletown Police were dispatched to a serious crash at an unusual location.  Two vehicles collided head on directly under a one lane bridge on Wood Lane. The was right next to Woodbourne Road.  Four people were hurt,  and the injuries range from serious to moderate, authorities said.  The driver of the Mazda had to be removed by rescue workers who cut away the roof and  dash.

The late afternoon wreck happened when two vehicles went under the bridge at the same time.  One, a Mazda 3 was traveling fast, police said when it crashed head on into a heavier Jeep.  The force of the crash  forced the Jeep to go backwards about 30 feet.  The surrounding roads were closed until the wreckage could be removed, which took about two hours.

Police in Middletown would like to speak with anyone that might have witnessed all or part of the crash.  Including reports of reckless driving by a similar vehicle in the area, preceding the crash. You can call (215) 750-3845 to speak with Officer Herman.
