Centenarians gather in Philly for lunch
By Alex Lloyd Gross
People that are 100 years old or older have very interesting stories to tell. yesterday, May 17, 2018, bunch of them were invited to the Sugar House casino, where they were treated to lunch, a show and all got a portrait with the mayor. There It was all free. In all there are over 100 seniors that were in attendance.
One of the most colorful was 105 year old Dr. Eli Zebooker, a retired dentist that resides in Society Hill. He walked in unaided, cracked jokes with the staff that was there and promptly sat down for his meal. As the majority of the attendees were inside the ball room, the Senior Bop Dancers showed off dancing skills that most of those should have remembered.
There were old images of Philadelphia from the 1900’s displayed around the room. The images brought back memories. There are hundreds of stories to tell and some of these people are World war 2 Veterans. There is Arthur Didomenico, who served as a cop. he was on the security detail for three mayors. The seniors and their caretakers could get free information on aging, and benefits from government agencies.
