The First United Methodist Church Food Pantry (FUMC) in Bristol Borough helps about 260 families a month with its food pantry. Its now asking the surrounding community for its help.

The pantry, scheduled to be open three days a week, sometimes has to close its doors because we don’t have enough help, said pantry director Jayne Mcpherson earlier this month.

The pantry, she said, is looking for volunteers, to come in and help. The pantry which operates on Tuesday and Wednesday’s fromĀ  9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“I’m a bit too old to be unloading trucks” she said with a laugh, although at times she does out of necessity.

Mcpherson said we could also use some food donations too.

“Dozens of families come to us, for help and support and now we need the help and support of the community” she said.
