The FOP on Caroline Road was packed today with hundreds of volunteers who were packing car bags filled with goodies to be delivered to every police, firefighter and medic in the city. About 10,000 total.  The bags will be delivered tomorrow, July 12, 2019 by representatives who will deliver them to districts and firehouses.  The contents of the bags are not fancy,  trial size samples of home care items, tissues and candy.

The idea is that all of the bags are uniform and will contain the same items. According to Kevin Schmeigel. CEO of Operation Gratitude, “We are going nationwide, we are expanding. If we are not in your area right now, we hope to be soon.” Inside, doing the grunt work were a lot of police and firefighters. There were also some private citizens who decided to get involved and help out. This is the fourth year this event has taken place in the city.
