COVID-19 Test Site At Citizens Bank Park Closed For Good
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Today, April 10.2020, the COVID-19 test site at Citizens Bank Park was supposed to close for good. when the last patient got tested.. High. However, winds made operation of the facility dangerous, so the last day of business for the site was yesterday.. “The test site has served it’s purpose,” said Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney. The site is outdated, with results being made available in about a week. Newer technology is able to have those results in a few minutes..
While it was open, volunteers and city employees were able to process people through the facility in about 15 minutes. The tents and equipment will be taken down and stored away until the next time they are needed. Unused test kits and medical supplies will e shipped to active sites.
Not everyone that went to the CBP test site was able to get a test. Some were turned away when people determined they had the flu, or did not experience any symptoms. This site was one of the first sites to open up in the region. It served people from the region, not just Philadelphia. Since it has opened, dozens of test sites have been placed into service.
The decision not to open today was made because of high winds. Those same winds ripped down tents at the Temple University Ambler Campus yesterday, Those in need of a test should contact their doctor or hospital for information on where the tests are being given.
