A quick moving house fire on the 7100 block of Marsden Street  destroyed a house and heavily damaged the adjacent exposure with smoke and water damage during the afternoon of April 29, 2020. No one was hurt and all of the occupants got out . They were at a nearby gas station parking lot consoling each other, while the fire department tried to figure out a cause.

Preliminary reports indicate the fire started towards the rear of the dwelling. The house is the end unit of a string of row houses.  The fire was declared under control by 5:45 PM, about 15 minutes after fire crews arrived.  Four engines and two ladder trucks were put in service.  Large diameter hose was stretched across many streets in the area. Busy Torresdale Avenue was closed at  Cottman Avenue. Many of the side streets were closed to accommodate apparatus or fire hose.
