by Alex Lloyd Gross

Less than a full week after events near the Ben Frankilin Parkway resulted in mass arrests, a Temple Student, who was arrested and injured  after being struck in the head by a Phila Police Staff Inspector was not charged by Phila District Attorney Larry Krasner.  Friday afternoon, June 5, 2020, Krasner announced that charges have been filed against Staff Inspector Joseph Bolonga.

During the skirmish, police are seen swinging sticks at protesters, some to gain control and other strikes seem questionable.  police are trying to arrest someone . in the video, another person comes to the aid of the protester, when they are smacked in the back of the head  by an ASP baton. That is the incident that got the inspector in hot water.  Bolonga runs the patrol Bureau. He is charged with Aggravated Assault (F1), Aggravated Assault (F2), Simple Assault (M2), Possession of an Instrument of Crime (M1), and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2).

Cell phone video taken by protesters and shared on social media shows the incident and was reviewed by Larry Krasner himself. You can see that video here.

The alleged assault happens about  1.23. into the video.

FOP  President John McNesby called the incident a “rush to Judgement”   He blasted Krasner  and claimed Krasner  was responsible for helping to ruin this city. A warrant will be issued for Bolonga’s arrest.  McNesby is disgusted with Krasner.
