Police Have Video Of Catalytic Converter Theft In South Philly
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Philadelphia Police have released door cam video of two males that use a white beater car to steal catalytic converters. This theft happened on the 200 block of Tasker Street on March 23, 2022. The two males park a 2011-14 white Hyndai Sonata. They sit in the vehicle for a bit, then they go to the trunk and pull out a saw and a floor jack.
When they think the coast is clear, they lift the car and then leave. The vehicle they use is a beater. It has a mark on the bottom passenger door and two different style rims on the front and rear wheels. The two males conspire to steal as the passenger hands off a saw to the driver, who waits in the car until the target vehicle is lifted. He then walks the saw across the street.
The converter is cut off and the two manage to leave within a few minutes. However, their entire crime was caught on video and you can see it below. If you know the vehicle or the two thieves, police want to hear from you.
