Things could have been a lot worse when fire started at the Northbrook Apartments right off of Woodhaven and Thornton Roads. When companies arrived, they had smoke and fire showing from a three story apartment. One engine company was close by, wrapping up another call when they were dispatched. They arrived and went in service,
Firefighters got two dogs out of the apartment and reunited them with their owners. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire started just after 5:00 PM. . Several apartments were evacuated. The fire Department dispatched their CAT team for the animals and needs of the evacuees.
Temperatures were dropping and that caused the roads nearby and the parking lot to freeze. A call was put in to Penndot for salt. No injuries were reported.
