Police Release More Info On Two Fatal Shootings

Philadelphia Police have confirmed that the shooting that claimed the life of Carlos Merced, 56, of Feasterville Pa. He was Working at an auto body shop on the 4300 block of Josephine Street.
Jose Ortiz Rodriguez of Willard Street came into the shop and got into an argument with Merced. He shot him multiple times. Rodriguez was arrested within hours.
He has been charged with murder and due to a past felony record, he should never have been able to have a gun. He was charged with that as well. He was denied bail.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at approximately 11:27 P.M., Philadelphia Police responded to the 5400 block of Chester Avenue for shooting victims inside the Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant. Police transported the victims to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Victim #1: A 19-year-old male suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was pronounced dead at 11:37 P.M. The victim was identified as Johron Jones from the 5400 block of Chester Avenue.
Victim #2: A 43-year-old female suffered gunshot wound to the shoulder. She was pronounced dead on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 12:11 A.M. The victim was later identified as Kristie Manago from the 5200 block of Chester Avenue.
Victim #3: A 20-year-old black male suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and torso. He was placed in critical condition. Scene held, no weapon recovered and no arrest. The investigation is active and ongoing with Homicide Detectives Division.
