At high noon today, a black male walked into a convenience store on the 4900 block of L. Street. he did not want to buy anything. He wanted to rob it instead.  He pulled a pistol and threatened the clerk.  The clerk, who was also the owner gave him some money. As the theif tried to run away, he was shot one time by the store owner.

At least that’s what the store owner thought. The robber was in a vehicle and drove away.  The store owner thought he shot the robber and was a good shot. The robber was found inside the vehicle at K and Hunting Park, shot one time in his leg. He was rushed to Temple Hospital in stable condition.

Police recovered the weapon used and they took the store owners weapon.  This will be investigated by police and the District Attorney’s Office. No word on any charges at this point.
