What could have been a routine car stop and maybe some tickets or a minor arrest turned into much more for a Levittown male last night. It was about 8:00 PM when Pennsylvania State Police stopped a car for swerving and other violations.  According to troopers, the car stopped initially but soon, took off, speeding away from police. The car stop took place at the 413 exit ramp from I-95.

The weather was misting rain and the roads were wet.  That did not dissuade the driver from accelerating at high speed down Veterans Highway.  When he reached Old Rodgers Road, he turned right down the street but due to slippery road conditions and excessive speed, the driver could not negotiate  a curve in the road.  He slammed into a tree outside of a private residence  on the 2900 block of Old Rogers Road.

He sustained serious but non life threatening injuries, according to troopers.  He will be charged once released from the hospital, where he was transported by medics.
