Update To Police Chase and Crash In Philadelphia

It was back on June 7, 2023 when police saw a gun in plain view in a car with two males in it, along Woodhaven Road. When police tried to stop the males,they refused to stop and drove from the cops at high speed.. This culminated with a crash at Roosevelt Boulevard and Comly Road.  The two males got out and they ran away. They were caught.

Police identified them as Mario Olivea, who police said was driving. Tavaughn Funderburk, who was the passenger.  Both have arrest records. Olivea is charged with gun charges, Reckless Endangerment,  Careless and Reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.   One of his charges is for carrying a gun when he was not allowed to do that. The reason, a long record going back over five years  for drugs and guns.  In fact, according to court records, he was  on probation at the time of this incident.

 

 

 

Funderburk was charged with feeling and eluding, resisting arrest and when he allegedly threw evidence on the ground, he was charged with littering Court records indicate he has a record as well. Hie was previously arrested for leaving the scene  and he previously served six months of probation for assault. of an accident His bail was set at $10,000. Olivea  is held in the Philadelphia jail system under $200,000  bail.
