“We know who we are looking for”, Those are the words from Captain John Ryan, Commanding Officer of Northeast Detectives.  He was talking about the suspect pulled over by Highway Patrol for running a stop sign last night, at Charles and Cheltenham. The driver pulled over and police saw a gun in the car.  According to Ryan  the officers ordered the driver from the car to investigate more.

That is when the driver sped off, with the officer trapped  by the car, unable to free himself. The car dragged the officer for a distance and then the officer dislodged from the car.  He sustained serious injuries that will require him to be away from work for a short while. “This could have been a lot worse, a lot worse,” Ryan said. The officer does not have any broken bones.

The car continued south on Charles Street.  Police found the car early today at 7th and Cumberland without the driver. The gun was missing too.  During the press conference outside Northeast Detectives, Ryan said  the driver gave his info to the officer before he took off.  “The driver should come and see us before we see him and that will be soon,”Ryan said.
