Police Warn Elderly Of Scam In Northeast Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police are looking for the occupants of the white truck in the above photo. They have taken it upon themselves to target senior citizens . They have a white pick up truck. They have yellow, reflective vests. They use these two items to tell people that they are with the Philadelphia Water Department. When the door is opened, the males push past the homeowner and go inside the house.

They are not with any city agency. This has happened twice recently. The offenders are described as white males wearing reflective vests who gained access to the residence by telling the complainant they could help lower her water bill. A similar incident occurred on February 14, 2024. In this incident a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver was taken.

The photo is from a security camera. It does not show a license plate. Citizens are asked to be on the look out for this truck. If males show up at your door unannounced, do not open the door.
