Haz-Mat Crews Respond To Incident In Bensalem

A hazardous Materials incident was reported on the public works property, off of Byberry Road, in Bensalem. A chemical reaction was going on in the back of truck and companies had no idea of what the chemicals were. The driver himself was not sure.
Firefighters converged and staged in the back of the Bensalem Rescue Squad and advanced haz- mat crews with tools to determine what the chemical was. From there, they can figure the best way to neutralize the spill. All members that come in contact with the chemical must get decontaminated.
Byberry Road is closed between Hulmeville and Knights Roads. The imagination Land playground has been evacuated, as it is downwind. of the incident. Hulmeville Road remains open to through traffic. Crews will be on scene for several hours containing the spill and a private contractor will be called for any clean up.
No evacuations have been called for as of 1:45PM and no injuries have been reported either.
