Male Arrested For Bensalem Murder

Shortly before 6:00 PM yesterday Bensalem police got multiple 911 calls for a shooting, at Bucks Meadows Apartments, 3131 Knights Road. When they arrived, they found 40-year-old Hispanic Male, identified as Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz, shot one time in the chest. Officers began life saving measures to try to stabilize him until EMS arrived. Ruiz was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital but died there, police said.

Within minutes, officers had the name of the alleged shooter, Abel Mendoza-Ramirez, 31. He had left the area in a van. Officers set up an elaborate crime scene outside of building seven. They learned that the two males had a minor altercation prior to the shooting. At one point, police said, Ramirez left and went to his van where allegedly came back with a pistol.

He is accused of firing two rounds into the ground near Ruiz. Ruiz then tried to take the gun away but was shot, police said. There were no other injuries according to police. Ramirez lived in the apartment complex, police said.

Officers broadcast the description of the van and it was stopped in Newtown , Bucks County. at 600 Newtown Yardley Road in front of the Newton Cemetery. Abel Mendoza-Ramirez was taken into custody without incident. Abel Mendoza-Ramirez was charged with Criminal Homicide, Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Third Degree, and possession of an Instrument of Crime. He was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail.
