by Alex Lloyd Gross and Dan Doyle
Warrington Township, PA – April 11, 2025 — The Warrington Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division has arrested a Lansdale man in connection with a sexual assault case dating back to 2016.

Gary R. McCunney, 67, was taken into custody and charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Assault, and Corruption of Minors. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in the Willow Knoll neighborhood of Warrington Township nearly a decade ago. The victim spoke with investigators said that she was with friends at a house with other children. At one point they went into a bedroom to play video games, laving the victim alone. That is when the father, identified as Gary McCunney sat next to her.
He began to kiss her and pay her compliments. She told him to stop but he kept pressuring her, police said. The victim was eight or nine years old at the time, police said. Eventually the assault progressed, police said. The girl ran home and cried, afraid to tell anyone what happened.

Following his arrest, McCunney was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman and remanded to Bucks County Prison. Bail was set at $300,000.

Investigators say the arrest follows new developments in the case, including a recent forensic interview that brought to light disturbing details about the alleged assault.
The Warrington Township Police Department is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact Detective Schaffer at 215-343-3311, extension 222, or by email at Bs*******@**********pd.org.
