NASA Rocket Launch Seen All Over This Region

by Alex Lloyd Gross

NASA launched three rockets last night, about 10:40PM and millions of people had the pleasure of seeing it live. Looking South East into the night sky you could see something that did not look normal. It is was not a UFO and it was not and airplane. The huge trail of sparks could be seen going higher into the air. It was in fact, Three TOMEX+ sounding rockets launched in succession starting at 10:43 ET.

A few short minutes later, a vapor cloud was observed. This was exactly what NASA wanted. The rocket launch was a science experiment, which was to diagram a 3D map of turbulence in the region at the edge of space, according to NASA.

The first two tries had to be postponed due to weather, where NASA set up monitoring stations. It might have been clear here but not over there. Some space enthusiasts were upset at having to stay awake until 3:00 AM only to have the mission scrubbed.

Wallops Island in Virginia is a launch site that send up more rockets than Florida. Most launches that happen there are visible in this area, especially if the skies are clear. Rockets have been observed in daylight or nighttime launches.
